A matter of fact

Joyce Meyer (2)

Joyce Meyer: And it’s a lot of us working together.

David:  Exactly.  Our team’s huge.  We have hundreds and hundreds of people all over the world.  One of the thoughts I had in preparing for this that I thought was really, really cool… As a matter of fact, I wanted to actually even just show you this: right now as we’re doing this, all those people, probably hundreds of people, are lined up in Lima, Peru waiting to get into a free medical clinic that our team is down there doing.

Joyce Meyer: They’re there right now.

David: Right now — right now as we do this. We do four or five of these a year.  About six months ago we hired a lady to just do that full-time; it’s something that we have the ability to…

Joyce Meyer: She was a nurse, right?

David: She was a nurse, loved missions, and so she has a team of about 25 people that are there.  They’ll see probably 300 to 400 patients a day. That same place, we did something so simple that for like less than a dollar, you can give a child a pill that will get rid of worms. So we said, “hey, we’ll do a million kids.” I forget the exact cost — it wasn’t a million dollars — but that’s a million kids…

Joyce Meyer: So they had worms in their stomach?

David: Oh yeah.  As they say, when you have worms, the worms get to eat first.

Joyce Meyer: Ooh.

David: But one pill will solve that.  What a simple itch that we’re able to scratch.

Joyce Meyer: Now when she goes, there are doctors and dentists and all kinds of medical professionals who volunteer their time.  A lot of them take their vacation or they take time off from work without pay. They pay their own way and go there to do this kind of work. But what has been the response? Tell us about the response of a lot of these doctors and medical professionals. How has it affected their life?
